This post, "Houston Dynamo Tackle Offensive Chant," originated from gay4soccer.

Houston DynamoThe Houston Dynamo have announced steps to bring an end to the “puto” chant during home games at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The official supporters groups of the Dynamo, El Batallon, Texian Army and Brickwall Firm will be replacing it with “Oh, Houston” from their end of the stadium during goal kicks. Houston will also be debuting a video at this Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Whitecaps asking fans to join the supporters groups in this effort.

Long-time ally Brian Ching worked with the three groups on this change and said in the Houston Dynamo announcement, “This chant has no place in our stadium, our city or, frankly, our game. Our Supporters Groups have worked with us over the last several years to stop its use among their members, and now we are joining together to ask all of our fans to stop using it.”

Fans are also encouraged to use the in-stadium text messaging system to report instances of fans using offensive chants.

The Dynamo join Minnesota United FC and the San Jose Earthquakes as a now-growing group of teams publicly taking on the offensive goal kick chant head-on with video messages directed at fans.
